Updating mysql to mysqli

I am trying to migrate from mysql to mysqli so I can upgrade the PHP version of my website to PHP 7 so I can upgrade wordpress. I know I need to make some changes like this one: mysql_affected_rows -> mysqli_affected_rows, but I do not know where or what file to do that to. Could someone tell me where that file is, or if there is a better way to make all the changes at once. Thank you, I've tried looking through the file structure but I just don't know where to make the changes.
Open the folder containing all the site files in Visual Studio Code (free to download if you don't have it). Choose the search icon on the left side of the screen and type in "mysql" (without quotes). You'll be able to click on each result and update the code throughout your site.
